The dry season (January-May) brings the heavenly heat of the sun and the perfect tropical climate for leisurely days and action-packed adventure. The high season is the ideal time to visit and explore the beautiful beaches of Papagayo Gulf.
Costa Rica’s sun shines all year round - mainly in the mornings during winter, with rain in the afternoon – so you’re still likely to catch the rays during the ‘Green’ months (June – December). Despite the showers, it’s a great season to see the lush tropical landscape of Guanacaste in full tropical bloom.
At Hilton Papagayo Costa Rica Resort & Spa’s on-site Tour Office, we can arrange action-packed tours of Costa Rica attractions.
These are the best attractions in Guanacaste, Costa Rica area that you can’t miss:
Liberia is the gateway to the Gulf of Papagayo. Many tourists to Costa Rica land in Liberia Airport, to find a charming town with a Colonial vibe, all white washed houses giving rise to name of ‘la ciudad blanca’ (the white city). There are many good bars and restaurants, giving you a chance to sample the vibrant local atmosphere and flavors of Costa Rica.
Tamarindo is another popular town for tourists. Playa Tamarindo is a long, excellent beach, offering many great spots for surfing, as well as natural activities such as turtle watching.
Further north on Costa Rica’s stunning shoreline are Playa del Coco and Playa Hermoso, both lovely towns beside great beaches, and popular with surfers. Playa del Coco has a lively nightlife and party atmosphere at the weekends.
